Go, Danica, go!

On Sunday, April 20, at the Honda 300 in Japan, Danica Patrick became the first woman ever to win an Indy or Nascar race. Ethan is a HUGE fan. In fact, my dad programmed "Go, Danica, go!" into his Dynavox so that even after ALS took his speech, he could help cheer her on when he and Ethan watched auto racing together. I'm not sure, but I think Ethan likes the racing...and not just Danica. The only disappointment was not being able to call Grandpa to discuss her victory.

Kitty moment

At lunch today, Ethan pointed at the chair and wrote me a note: Get the camera! (He was afraid of disturbing them.)

ALS candlelight vigil

It was a freezing, windy night at the baseball park, but we had almost 100 people show up for this year's candlelight vigil. As we held our candles, we were especially thinking of Carrie and Jenny, our friends who are living with ALS; of Jim, whose wife (a former schoolmate of mine) and two teenagers are taking one day at a time after his death earlier this month; and most of all, of course, my dad, Ethan's grandpa, who died eight months ago today. We miss you.

Fun at the wedding

Ethan got to play with his second cousins (the two oldest ones wouldn't join the photo) and even tried to pick up a cute girl.

I have a new aunt

Here's my Uncle Curt and Aunt Georgia. My pictures don't do them justice because of the backlight, but trust me, they made a lovely couple! Welcome to the family!

And here's some more of the family: My two cousins and their wives, as well as my uncle's sister, who I usually call Mom.
