You only THOUGHT the Blue Mountain Mall was dead

It was really only mostly dead. Now it's completely dead. (Even though Sears and Shopko are still open, and Gottschalks opens for a few hours when they feel like it.)

Still, a dead mall is less depressing than a dead downtown. The NY Times loves us and downtown is good. We even have a few restaurants, not that I can afford them.

begin rant: Since we actually live in Walla Walla all the time, the best second home we could hope to buy might be a camper van down by the river in Starbuck. We're so grateful that wine has increased the price of a house 114 percent in seven years, too. Why doesn't the NYT talk to real people instead of real estate agents? /rant

Is the mall completely dead? Heard a rumor that there was a problem with the bank funding. Haven't seen workers in awhile. We were getting excited about the new stores and restaurants.

How depressing. The mall never was that great, other than the pretzel place. I wonder what's in store for the pile of rubble.
